Light Lift: Romantic Primary Bedroom

DEEP AND POETIC
After the refresh
In this 1870s Italianate, the primary bedroom received a total transformation with just a few small updates, starting with a deep clean and repairs, of course. The main drama comes from a deep brownish/red paint that envelops the room, ceilings and all (Chestnut by Benjamin Moore). A wallpapered accent wall with a bird motif adds some whimsy in a house that skews more traditional.
We repaired and cleaned the original light fixture, but installed a dimmer switch in addition to two dimmable brass lamps (plug-in from Target, believe it or not). All that and some fresh furnishings add up to the coziest place to rest your head.
DIRTY AND WORN
Photos from before
This room is small and gets a TON of sunlight, which (surprise surprise) highlighted the incense-stained and cracked ceilings and walls.
